Awnah with The Palestinian Museum: Olive Harvest Season
For the Whole Family
In partnership with the Bank of Palestine
Friday, October 11th | 11:00-17:00
Location: The Palestinian Museum
We Palestinians consider the olive tree to be one of the components of our collective identity. We have always expressed our connection to the olives and the oil they produce, whether through our poetry, songs, paintings, or other forms of artwork. Threats to these trees are nothing short of a personal existential threat.
This year’s olive harvest season is taking place under exceptional circumstances. Historically, the season has been a form of awnah, a day of community mutual aid during which land caretakers, neighbours, family members, and the whole village come together to pick and press the olives.
To mark this occasion, we invite you to join us this year in an olive harvest event at The Palestinian Museum as we reminisce pleasant memories and pray for Gaza, all of Palestine, and oppressed peoples everywhere, as we always have done.
