Specialised workshop: "Art Competitions and Initiatives in Schools: From Imitation to Experimentation and Production"

Open Call for Art Education Teachers in Public and Private Schools to participate in a specialised workshop entitled: "Art Competitions and Initiatives in Schools: From Imitation to Experimentation and Production"

Sunday, August 31 | 09:00–15:00
Venue: The Palestinian Museum

The Palestinian Museum is organising a specialised workshop for art education teachers in public and private schools, led by Malek Rimawi and Munther Jawabreh. The workshop addresses the topic of art competitions and initiatives announced in schools targeting children, pausing to reflect on the mechanisms teachers adopt in managing them, and how these can be transformed from traditional competitive activities into spaces for experimentation and production.

The workshop focuses on the concept of experimentation as one of the core elements of cultural production, and as a fundamental tool for transforming ideas into methodologies for practice and intellectual inquiry. From this perspective, the workshop raises key questions:

  • How can the concept of experimentation be applied in schools?
  • How can initiatives and competitions be turned into opportunities to discover children’s artistic abilities and skills?
  • How can competitions contribute to building productive groups that enrich the school experience and artistic knowledge, while opening spaces for children to express their ideas, dreams, and visions of the world?

Seats are limited.
