The Palestinian Museum invites you to join a tour of the exhibition Not Just Memory: Khalil Raad and the Contemporary Eye with curator and artist Vera Tamari, followed by a discussion with Dr. Salim Tamari about his essay on Raad’s work in the contexts of Ottoman modernity, the Great War, and the biblical gaze on Palestine.
The exhibition revisits the legacy of pioneering photographer Khalil Raad (1854–1957), twelve years after his first retrospective, in a new edition that offers space for reflection on the continued relevance of his work and the questions it raises about photography’s relationship to memory, place, and the Palestinian narrative in the face of colonial erasure.
