“A House in Palestine”, with the artist Rafat Asad
Family and Children: Workshop series
Friday, February 16th, 14:00-16:30
Location: The Palestinian Museum
Language: Arabic
In Palestine as nowhere else in the world, a house is a home of hopes, dreams, and the struggle to return. It is the home of memories, a lifetime, where we lost moments. It is a symbol in poetry and artworks, and the nostalgia of those separated from us by time and distance. Have you ever imagined how a house could turn from a tangible place to a yearning, an archival image injected through the imagination?
Our dear friends, we invite you to join us for “A House in Palestine”, a workshop accompanying This is Not an Exhibition, our ongoing artistic demonstration of Palestinian Gazan artists’ works. We will do a reading of these works and analyse their musings in an attempt to translate the visual images the artists produced into meanings. These meanings will then be transformed into artistic practice to disentangle and then reconstruct a definition of “home”.
