The Palestinian Museum delivered a course in ceramics conservation from 15 to 30 April 2026, with support from the Violet Jabara Charitable Trust. Guided by conservation expert Zaid Yaqeen , the ten-session course brought together participants working in or otherwise engaged with heritage preservation.
The training introduced participants to the core principles and practices of ceramics conservation, including cleaning, care, safe storage, and the use of conservation materials and tools. In the Museum’s conservation laboratory, theoretical grounding was paired with hands-on practice, giving participants a practical understanding of working with ceramic objects and professional approaches to the care of ethnographic collections. The course also situated ceramic objects within Palestinian material and cultural memory.
Part of the Museum’s national emergency initiative to safeguard cultural heritage, the course helps develop homegrown conservation expertise and professional practice. By training and preparing Palestinian heritage professionals to respond in times of crisis, the initiative supports the long-term protection of Palestinian material heritage and memory.
