The Palestinian Museum extends its congratulations to Baha Jubeh, Director of the Collections and Conservation Unit at the Palestinian Museum, on his election as Secretary-General of the Arab Regional Organization of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Arab) for the 2025–2028 term. Jubeh’s election took place on 13 November 2025 during the 27th General Conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), held in Dubai under the theme “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Societies”. This election crowns Jubeh’s long professional career in cultural heritage preservation and museum practice, and reflects his significant contributions to advancing Palestinian museology at both the Arab and international levels.

This milestone coincides with a historic step for the Palestinian museum sector: the official establishment of the Palestinian Museums Association (ICOM Palestine), following extensive efforts by a distinguished group of specialists and museum professionals. With this announcement, Palestine is formally recognized as an active member within the global ICOM network, which includes 139 countries and more than 60,000 museum professionals worldwide.

This moment marks a significant leap in the organization and development of museum work in Palestine, and a pivotal step toward strengthening Palestine’s professional presence within regional and international frameworks. It opens new avenues for collaboration between Palestinian museums and their counterparts regionally and globally, contributing to the advancement of the museum sector and empowering its institutions to fulfill their role in safeguarding heritage and reinforcing national identity.
