Palestinian artist Omar Jallad keeps rare personal archives that document the lives of his mother Zaynab Muhib and his aunt, Fatema Muhib. Zaynab Muhib was among the first Palestinian women to practice medicine in the late-1940s. Visual artist Fatema Muhib left a significant imprint on the Palestinian visual arts landscape, having painted numerous artworks inspired by the natural landscape around her, in addition to illustrating historical figures for school textbooks.
Omar Jallad discusses his personal collection, which he donated to the Palestinian Museum, and delves into personal and public histories of life in Jerusalem, of resistance to occupation and paternalism, of women who left a mark on Palestinian history, and of a child in whom a love of art was nurtured so that he pursued his dream and became an artist
