Moderator: Dr. Shadia Touqan

Saturday, 28 March, 17:00
Location: the Palestinian Museum & via Zoom

Language: Arabic

As part of the Taawon Talks series, this session opens a space for in-depth reflection on the relationship between architecture, memory, and narrative, and how these elements can document the Palestinian experience while preserving the stories of place and people across time.

The discussion is guided by a central question:

How can architecture and memory document the Palestinian experience, preserve the stories of place and people, and contribute to understanding history and shaping our narrative?

The session brings together architect and writer Dr. Suad Amiry, alongside architect and historian Dr. Nadi Abu Saadeh, in conversation with Dr. Shadia Touqan. Together, they will explore how architecture can function as a living archive, and how narrative, in its various forms, contributes to reinterpreting history and shaping the Palestinian story.

Through this dialogue, we highlight the role of homes, villages, and historic centers as carriers of collective memory, and emphasize the importance of documentation and research in transmitting these experiences to future generations, especially in light of the ongoing political and spatial transformations that threaten both place and meaning.

This session aligns with Taawon Talks’ vision of fostering a multidisciplinary discourse that bridges thought and practice, placing the Palestinian experience at the center of a broader human conversation.

The event is open to the public, and the discussion will be held in Arabic.
