Job Title: Chef Assistant and Supporting Services
Department: Finance and Administration
Reporting to: Head Chef
Job Scope: Indoor seating area, terrace, and logistical support for the cafeteria at the Palestinian Museum.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
Under the direct supervision of the Head Chef and Finance and Administration Manager, the chef assistant is responsible for implementing the Museum’s strategy and adopted policies and procedures, and conducting the following:
- Assist the head chef in preparing food and beverages according to set standards.
- Contribute to preparing key ingredients and prepare simple dishes, and guarantee readiness within the working hours.
- Adhere to health and safety standards during food preparation and storing.
- Keep the cafeteria area clean, including the preparation area, tables, floors, and internal seating area.
- Ensure that tables and chairs on the terrace are clean and well-arranged for visitors.
- Clean tools and equipment used for food preparation and protect them from misuse.
- Support service operations and serving visitors when needed, ensuring a positive experience for them.
- Assist with arranging products displayed in the cafeteria and ensure their availability.
- Implement purchasing operations for the cafeteria including food and operational supplies based on the instructions of the head chef or the administration.
- Coordinate with suppliers, receive requested products, and transfer them to the cafeteria.
- Commit to using the vehicle for work purposes only in line with the museum’s instructions.
- Report any lack of products or malfunction in equipment.
- Adhere to flexible working hours based on need and events.
- Implement any other tasks assigned by direct supervisor within the scope of work.
Scope of Work and Supervision
- Direct reports: none
- Internal relations: all museum staff
- External relations: visitors and the public of the Palestinian Museum, and local suppliers.
Job Requirements:
- Academic qualifications and work experience:
- A proven work experience in food preparation and service at restaurants or cafeterias.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in food preparation or kitchen support (preferably)
- Hold a valid driving license
- Skills and Competencies:
- Good knowledge of food preparation and service essentials.
- Ability to comply with general health and safety standards.
- Ability to work within a team and under pressure.
- Time management and strong sense of responsibility.
